With an unrestricted use trial available, it's easy to make one's own decision. That's not to say one could not create a pleasing sketch look using some combination of the above, but I respectfully disagree with ".More work but can get theĮffect." As noted previously Topaz Simplify does a good job with edge effects, but not "pencil sketches." IMO none of the above used individually or in combination can achieve the level of detail AS is able to render.

I have all of them plus Snap Art which has a pencil sketch effect and I have created numerous custom "pencil sketch" presets for the Impressionist plugin (AFAIK still available at Trimoon's new site). That would definitely have shortened the learning curve.

I agree that Akvis should have provided more Sketch presets like Topaz does for its plugins. Impressionist (old MS Frontpage plugin) Free and I think it still Topaz Simplify - Free if you use the beta version. The default settings and I don't know if this is still the case.įew in mind that may do similar and maybe better: Also AKVIS should have suppliedĪ bunch of presets with that. I remember creating a preset too but of course it doean't AKVIS Sketch is available as a standalone application and as a plugin filter for compatible image editors: AliveColors by AKVIS, Adobe Photoshop, Corel PaintShop Pro, and other popular image processing programs.
